First Look: Jennifer Hudson Plays Aretha Franklin In “Respect”

We are getting our first look at Jennifer Hudson channeling the spirit of the late great Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin in this teaser trailer for the upcoming biopic "Respect".

Hudson, who was handpicked by Franklin to play her in the highly anticipated biopic prior to her passing in 2018, will be leading a star studded cast that includes Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans and many more.

The film will chronicle the rise of Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her worldwide superstardom. "Respect" will hit theaters in 2020. Check out some behind the scenes footage as we all impatiently wait to see how this movie will look.

But if this teaser trailer is any indicator, Hudson, who already has an Oscar and a Grammy could be picking up MORE of those awards soon.
