What Terrifies Texas? Recent Survey Shows What We Fear The Most
All of us have fears that are unique to us. Some fears are caused by simply seeing said thing at a point in our lives. Other may form over time, for whatever reason.
For a while when I was younger, I had a fear of mascots. I'm not even sure what caused that thought, but thankfully I'm over that fear now. But this isn't about me, it's about what others get unnerved about.
A poll conducted by YouGov revealed what certain members of the population refuse to face in real life. In the conducted poll of 1,000 persons, here are some of the top ones:
- Snakes
- Heights
- Spiders
- Public Speaking
- Disease
I have to say, I understand all of these pretty well. But there were others I couldn't seem to understand. For example, here are the ones that seemed rather interesting in no particular order:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Dirt
- Open Spaces*
-Feet (Seriously - feet)
And the biggest surprise? 16% percent of people polled said they had no fears. We'll get back to that later, but first those rather interesting fears.
I get being scared of some dogs, but for the most part, pups are certainly friendly. I mean, I haven't seen a golden retriever I didn't want to pet. Cats I can sort of understand because there tend to hiss at people.
But dirt? Why are we scared of dirt? Because clothes might get dirty?
Also open spaces? Just imagine driving down an open road with no other cars around. That sounds like heaven.
And to those who say they don't fear anything. There's no way you aren't scared of something. Maybe that thing hasn't taken shape yet.
But trust me, we all get scared. It's a fact of life. What are you scared of? Let us know via our station app!
