The City of Harker Heights invites your family to a free outdoor screening of 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' on Thursday, December 17.

The movie will play at the Community Park Softball Complex, 1605 Knight's Way. The City of Harker Heights is teaming up with Southern Roots Brewing Company and the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce for this event, so you'll be treated to two special features: props to play along with your favorie moments from the movie, and local brew for purchase (if you're 21 or older, of course).

The event is free, but you'll need to register in advance as space is limited due to physical distancing and safety requirements. You can register by calling the Harker Heights Recreation Center at (254) 953-5657.

The City of Harker Heights had to cancel their usual Frost Fest, but Harker Heights Parks and Recreation, the Harker Heights Activities Center, and the Harker Heights Public Library are partnering to offer a Holiday Market and Santa in the Park on Friday, December 11.

You'll also need to get preregistered for this event. You can do that here.

Santa will be at the Harker Heights Community Park between 3:30 PM and 8:30 PM. To keep everyone safe for the holidays, Santa will sit inside a special snowglobe, and you and your family can get a free photo with him.

There'll also be a storywalk on the park's trail, and a special Holiday Market featuring baked goods, treats, hand crafted gifts, and more.

“We look forward to providing safe and fun events to the community during the holiday season,” said Jeff Achee, Director of Parks and Recreation. “While we are incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to celebrate with our regular local business partners and citizens, we still hope that we’re able to spread some holiday cheer to the community.

If you have any questions, give Harker Heights Parks & Rec a call at (254) 953-5657.
