Texas A&M To No Longer Allow Drag Shows On School Grounds
The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents recently made a decision about drag shows occurring on their campuses, deeming them inappropriate. This has resulted in arguments beginning on whether or not it is the right decision. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
When Where The Shows Banned And What Was The Reason?
As reported by Spectrum News, this is part of the why drag shows were outlawed:
"...These events often involve unwelcome and objectively offensive conduct based on sex for many members of the respective communities of the universities, particularly when they involve the mockery or objectification of women.”
In addition, per the resolution, "universities should foster a sense of community." However, not everyone is satisfied with the school's decision.

Who Apposes The Ban Of Drag Shows On Texas A&M Campuses
One of the events that was held at Texas A&M was known as "Draggieland." The group that made the event happen, The Queer Empowerment Council at Texas A&M, was not happy with the ban. Part of their statement read:
“QEC firmly believes that the Board of Regents’ decision undermines these values, which are vital to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. The cancellation follows the loss of our Pride Center due to the implications of SB 17, making it all the more crucial for events like Draggieland to continue.”
At the time of writing, the ban will result in the event having to be move someplace else. The main point of contention is that the event being forbidden breaches one's first amendment rights in the state and infringes on the school's rules about being to use spaces on campus no matter what the event is.
As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
