One of the biggest things, as revealed by Houston Landing, was the pandemic four years ago. According to the data, bad behavior from students was increased by nearly 50%. However, this isn't the only problem plaguing the system.
What Is The One Law Currently Affecting Students In Texas?
Houston Landing revealed that one law put into place in September 2023 may also be affecting those behavior rates. The law pertains to when a student in the Texas school system is caught vaping. If a Texas student is spotted making use of an e-cigarette, whether it be at a school activity or on campus itself, the student is placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, otherwise known as DAEP.
The Houston Landing reports that this rule was put into place by Texas to assist the growth of students using said items. Data samples showed that 1 in 10 students of Texas schools using an e-cigarette.
