Per ABC13 Houston, it appears that the 4.6 wasn't the strongest in the state. Instead, on Valentine's Day, Texas saw a 5.0 tremor shake the western part of the state. It occurred at 11:23 PM, and it's effects were felt in El Paso, which was an estimated 150 miles away from where the earthquake was.
This quake made history as well, matching the sixth highest measured in the state's history. In addition, tremors reaching 5.1 on the scale have happened in the Lone Star State. There is a cause however.
ABC13 Houston stated that fracking has played a part in assisting these events happen. Efforts are being made to try and lessen the part fracking has played in the earthquakes as well.
It remains to be seen how future earthquakes can be affected in Texas.
