Teacher In Texas Under Investigation After It Was Revealed They Didn’t Allow Students To Use Restroom

A teacher in the state of Texas took away the ability for elementary schoolers to use the restroom, and parents of the students are very unhappy with the decision. Here's what is known.

Parents Discover Their Children Weren't Allowed To Use Bathroom

According to ABC13 Houston, Bartlett Elementary parents saw their young students come home with a note from their teacher. However, the note was very troubling for most parents, as it revealed students lost the ability to use the restroom. Per the note, the teacher saw students playing outside the classroom, and the teacher made the punishment the loss of the bathroom passes for the day.

Understandably, parents were angry at the revelation. Amber Johnson, who had a student in the class, told ABC13:

"These kids are traumatized and humiliated. They were made fun of. They were crying, begging, pleading, and asking multiple times to go to the restroom, and they were refused."

Johnson also told ABC13 that multiple students also soiled themselves due to the inability for them to use the restroom. Another parent, Joseph McCauley, said about their child wetting themselves in class:

"If I sent my child to this school smelling like that, they would call CPS and have me investigated and try to have my child taken away from me. 'So, how is it OK for my child to go to school clean, prepared, and come home smelling like that?'"

Bartlett Elementary School Responds To The Incident

ABC13 Houston revealed that Conroe ISD, where Barlett Elementary is located, has a conduct code. In the code, it is stated that no student cannot be disallowed to use the restroom. Bartlett Elementary has also, per ABC13, placed the teacher under investigation, having a substitute in their place for the future.
