Aretha Franklin Earns Posthumous Pulitzer Prize
The world lost The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin back in August of 2018 but even after her death she continues to make history.
According to CNN, the legendary singer was awarded a special citation Pulitzer Prize "for her indelible contribution to American music and culture for more than five decades." She is the first musical artist to receive a "special citation" since 2010 and the first individual woman to ever receive a special citation prize, which was first awarded in 1930.
The prestigious Pulitzer Prize awards celebrate the best in journalism, literature and musical composition. The legacy of the Queen lives on.
