Sad news to pass along today as one of our favorite characters from a bunch of hit sitcoms in the 70's has passed away.

According to Deadline, Raymond Allen, best known for his recurring roles on several hit 70's TV sitcoms like "Sanford & Son" and "Good Times" passed away on Monday of a non-COVID respiratory illness at a long-term care facility in California. Mr. Allen was 91.

Born in Kansas City, MO in 1929 as the youngest of 12 kids, Mr. Allen became best known for his recurring role as "Uncle Woodrow 'Woody' Anderson, brother-in-law of Redd Foxx’s Fred Sanford and long-suffering husband of LaWanda Page’s Aunt Esther.

Allen also had a recurring role on another hit 70's sitcom "Good Times" as "Ned The Wino". He also made appearances on "What’s Happening!!", "Starsky and Hutch", "The Love Boat" and "The Jeffersons" before withdrawing from acting after his run of roles in the 70's.

He is survived by daughters Brenda Allen and actress Ta Ronce Allen, who also appeared in Good Times in a recurring role as Yvonne, girlfriend of series regular Ralph Carter’s Michael Evans.

We send our condolences to Mr. Allen's family, friends and fans.
