We are learning of some very sad news from the weekend which came to a shock to a lot of us.

Actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd, best known for his roles in several Spike Lee movies, most notably "Clockers", was fatally shot in Atlanta on Saturday according to CNN. He was 70 years old.

Spike Lee shared the news on Instagram:

Byrd began working with Lee in 1995 playing the very scary "Errol Barnes" in Clockers a role which would land him several more roles in Lee's films including Chi-Raq, Sweet Blood Of Jesus, Red Hook Summer, Bamboolzed, He Got Game, Get On The Bus and Girl 6.

He's also well known for his role as Luther in Set It Off in 1996.

Police in Atlanta responded to call of an injured person and found Byrd unresponsive with multiple gunshots to the back. Byrd's death is under investigation.
