Texas Teen Brutally Murders Twin Sister While Sleeping
Horrific Mistake or Malicious Act?
A 17-year-old teen has just been booked and charged with an extremely violent crime in Harris County. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, around 3 am Wednesday, September 29th, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a phone call from Benjamin Elliot. The eerie phone call revealed either a horrific mistake or a malicious act had just occurred.
Eerie 9-1-1 Call
Elliot claimed he had just stabbed his sister, who also happened to be his 17-year old twin sister, Meaghan Elliot. Quickly and without judgment 9-1-1 dispatcher instructed Benjamin to initiate CPR on his wounded sister until the paramedic arrived. While on the call, the screams of the twin's parents could be heard in the background.
Once the emergency crew and police arrived, Benjamin was found in his sister's room still initiating CPR on his twin sister. Meghan Elliot was found with multiple stab wounds in her neck area. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sleepwalking Claims
ABC News reported Benjamin's account of the event. He claimed to be sleepwalking and suddenly woke up to a knife in his twin sister's neck. However, according to court statements early Thursday morning, attorneys reported no previous or past sleep disorders had ever been recorded from Benjamin, it was also confirmed that he had not taken any drugs or alcohol prior to the event.
What Really Happened?
Benjamin is being held in Harris County Jail as he awaits trial for murder. There is a $100,000 bond set for him. Only time will tell if this was a bizarre and tragic case of sleepwalking or if Benjamin truly and maliciously murdered his very own twin sister.
