A nonprofit program dedicated to marine mammal conversation known as the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network or TMMSN recently assisted individuals with rescuing an orphan dolphin that had been seen by itself on the Texas coast according to Your Basin. This was a young female dolphin that was landlocked in the power lake, which is located near San Antonio Bay on Matagorda Island.
A SWEET ORPHAN BABY DOLPHIN HAS BEEN RESCUED ON THE TEXAS COAST
The organization stated that the dolphin initially observed with her presumed mother about a week ago, was discovered alone after the mother was found, and deceased on shore. SeaWorld, San Antonio, Texas Park, wildlife, NOAA fisheries service, and TMMSN collaborated to properly rescue the sweet baby dolphin as well as local partners. TMMSN stated that the rescue mission required boats, knowledge, and resources from the locals, and an experienced team traveling from Galveston and San Antonio, was a significant logistical Effort.
IS THE BABY DOLPHIN SAFE?
The rescue was a success and now the sweet baby dolphin has been taken to SeaWorld San Antonio for care. There is no valid reason why the mother dolphin passed away, but TMMSN says it could be from unusual habits, following storms, heavy rain, or even flooding. If anyone sees dolphins in unusual areas, they are asked to report them to the nearest marine mammal stranding responders.
