Belton ISD Expands Project Heartbeat Outreach to Support More Local Households

The saying, "It takes a village," truly means everything to me because it's all about a community coming together with one shared purpose. According to KCENTV, that's exactly what has happened in the Belton Independent School District. Belton ISD has been providing food for families experiencing food insecurity this summer through the district's Project Heartbeat program. The community has also stepped up to help make this effort possible, and the support the district has received has been truly tremendous.

Inside Belton ISD’s Effort to Feed Local Students & Families

Belton ISD helping families and students during the summer by providing food is another reminder of why educators are so important. I've always believed educators don't get enough credit because, at the end of the day, they help shape our children for nearly eight hours a day. In many cases, they spend more waking hours with our children than we do. I've also always said they don't get paid enough, but that's an article for another day.

Belton ISD Steps In to Help Families Put Food on the Table

Jona Sutter, Belton ISD's Community Support Services Liaison and Mentor Program and Resource Center Manager, said, "When a community comes together like this, it sends a powerful message to families that they are seen, valued, and supported."Sutter also said that every donation helps remove barriers for families and reminds them that they are not alone. Together, we are providing more than food. We are providing hope, stability, and reassurance that our community cares."This is what it's all about: taking care of one another. Belton ISD understands that this isn't just a place where people live; it's home. And looking out for one another is what helps a community thrive.
