Belton Community Rallies Behind District’s Free Summer Food Initiative

This program is incredibly beneficial to many families, and the fact that Belton ISD is continuing to offer it is truly a blessing. Unfortunately, some children receive only one reliable meal each day, and for many, that meal comes from their school. That's why the Summer Feeding Program is such a valuable resource for our children and families during the months when school is out.

Through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), free meals will be available to children 18 years old and younger. The program will also serve students with disabilities up to age 21. Meals will be provided throughout the summer while school is not in session.

Do You Need To Register To Receive The Free Breakfast/ Lunch?

Many people may not realize that the Summer Feeding Program is part of a nationwide USDA initiative designed to address food insecurity during the summer months. The program operates as an equal-opportunity service and helps ensure that children have access to nutritious meals when school cafeterias are closed. No registration or identification is required to participate. Meals must be consumed on-site, and each child is eligible to receive one breakfast and one lunch per day.
