Not forgetting where you come from and giving back is something that Texas Tech football player Tarriance Carter Jr. knows all about. According to KCENT, the Harker Heights High School alumnus put together an amazing event on July 18 for the community that has always supported him. He gave back by hosting a free youth football camp. It was the first year for the event, and it was a huge success.

What Did Terrance Carter Jr Have To Say About Why He Decided To Host This Event?

Carter said, "Honestly, just showing everyone where I come from and honestly just giving back to the kids and letting them know how hard it is to come out of Killeen as an athlete really goes to show them that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything."I couldn't agree more. It's so important to have young role models like Tarriance Carter Jr. showing our children that seeing is believing, but believing in yourself matters just as much.

Will This Event Come Back For The Following Year For The Future, Athletes In Central Texas?

Carter also said, "I know how it is sometimes. Not everything should be paid for, especially when it's about giving back to the community." That's exactly why the event was free. If you missed this year's camp, that's okay. Fingers crossed! Conversations have already started about making this an annual event for the next generation of athletes.
