Copperas Cove Enacts Stage 4A Water Restrictions Effective Immediately

It has really been a struggle for the City of Copperas Cove since a boil-water notice was issued on August 17 and remains in effect, according to FOX 44. More recently, Copperas Cove was placed under a Stage 4 water restriction.

What Does Stage 4 Water Restriction Mean?

This restriction means the city is experiencing a serious water shortage, resulting in very strict limits on water use. For example, outdoor watering is heavily restricted or prohibited, except for limited exemptions. Residents are not allowed to use automatic irrigation systems to water their lawns, and restrictions may also apply to hoses, sprinklers, and other landscape irrigation. Car washing may be prohibited or limited to commercial facilities that recycle water. Filling or topping off swimming pools may also be restricted. Residents are expected to reduce indoor water use as well, and fines or penalties may be imposed for violations.

What Residents Feel About the Restrictions

I spoke with a resident yesterday who explained that she had not had water since the 17th. Last night was the first time she had water again, but the pressure was still so low that it was difficult to even bathe.

What Should Residents Do If They Have Any Questions?

Especially in this Central Texas heat, the minute you get home, one of the first things you want to do is take a long, refreshing bath or shower. For residents not to have access to adequate water pressure to do something as basic as that is truly unfortunate. As of right now, the city can only continue to monitor the water distribution system as it recovers from a recent main water break and loss of pressure throughout the system.
