
Ex-Copperas Cove Firefighter Charged With Possessing Meth
One former firefighter from the Copperas Cove Fire Department has been found to have used an illegal drug while on the job. How was is discovered? Here's what is known at the time of writing.
When Did The Situation With The Copperas Cove Fire Department Begin?
According to KWTX, July 7th, 2025 was when department was alerted to the situation about the possible drug usage. Shortly after inquiries began, two unidentified firefighters were put on leave. In addition, two fire captains were alleged to also have committed misconduct in some way.
Only the four firefighters were under investigation, not the department as a whole as KWTX reported. On August 5th, 2025, inquires concluded with all four firefighters not with the department anymore. But at the time, the firefighter that was alleged to have used drugs was not identified.

Recent developments however have revealed who the firefighter was.
What Former Copperas Cove Firefighter Used Drugs?
In a legal document acquired by KWTX, David Martin Corley was the firefighter who used an illegal drug on the job. The drug, which was found to be methamphetamine, led to a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
In a press conference to media, Ryan Haverlah, the Copperas Cove City Manager, stated that the firefighter, was later found to be Corley, was facing charges for his actions. On August 28th, he was officially charged, and could be in jail for 10 years.
