Protecting the ones you love took on a new meaning today, according to KWTX. Alonso Morris, a man from Killeen was charged with aggravated assault and causing serious bodily injury after an altercation involving his boyfriend. According to reports, the incident began when the victim got into a physical fight with Morris’s boyfriend. In an attempt to protect his partner, Morris allegedly used a Ford Explorer SUV to strike the man who was fighting with his boyfriend.

The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on January 16 in the 1100 block of N. 6th Street in Waco, Texas. When detectives interviewed the victim, he stated that he had agreed to fight a man later identified as Rayshawn. The victim told officers that Morris was driving the Ford Explorer and that Rayshawn had arrived at the scene in the same SUV shortly before the altercation.

Surveillance footage obtained by detectives reportedly shows the Ford Explorer driving away from the fight, then turning around and accelerating back toward the scene at a high rate of speed before intentionally striking the victim. According to the arrest warrant, the victim was launched into the air and landed on the ground shortly after impact. Police said the victim sustained multiple injuries, including a torn ACL, a torn meniscus, and a fractured bone in his leg.
