While the child is okay, the video angered many across Texas and across the country and called on the Houston Police Department to hold the driver accountable.

According to KHOU, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo announced that they have arrested 18 year old Julio Coreas and charged him with reckless driving.

The child's mother who also shot the video, Josephine Kirk-Taylor, contacted Houston police to give them the information but police initially said that there’s no way to positively identify who may have been behind the wheel but media and community outrage was swift and demanded that HPD take action. HPD also announced more traffic enforcement and increased patrols in school zones.
