According to NBC News, Katia Trevon Bougere has been charged with shooting Abdul Rahman Wazir after a confrontation in a Houston, Texas, parking lot. Although Bougere has not been arrested, he has been summoned to appear in court next week.

Omar Khawaja, the attorney representing the Wazir family, stated that this indictment is just the beginning of the justice the Wazir family deserves. He continued, “A husband and father was senselessly killed, and while we are grateful that the grand jury returned a murder charge, it is an outrage that the man accused of taking his life is being allowed to appear by summons rather than being arrested, handcuffed, and treated like a violent offender.”The Houston Police Department said in a statement that officers interviewed Bougere and confiscated his firearm but then released him. The Wazir family wants to know that there will be justice.
