A Family Dollar worker in Texas recently had a scary situation occur in their store following an attempt to stop a purported shoplifter. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

How Did The Incident Begin?

Per ABC13 Houston, the Family Dollar located at the 8400 block of Winkler Road had officers alerted to a disturbance following the time of 12 PM. As revealed on scene by a sergeant, an unidentified employee was trying to stop a presumed shoplifter.

During the attempt to stop the person, the employee was hit multiple times in the face, with the total being seven. It was also revealed that attacker in question was in possession of chainsaw. The chainsaw itself was not used during the moment.

Due to the attack, the employee was knocked back. When the employee was pushed back, they then brandished a firearm, and shot the alleged shoplifter.

What Happened After The Shoplifter Was Struck By The Bullet?

The shoplifter, following the shooting, managed to make their way out of the store. The individual was able to go down the sidewalk for a little bit, but ended up falling down outside another business. A worker from that business said:

"We just hear a loud bang and we're like, 'Whoa, what's going on?'"

Paramedics did take the person to hospital and they were listed as stable at the time of writing. The employee was also interviewed but not arrested.
