A man residing in Houston, Texas has been placed under arrest after his purported actions that were done to aid ISIS. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

Anas Said And His Actions In Texas

According to Newsnation, Anas Said was taken into custody on November 8th, 2024. In addition, the arrest was announced on social media, via FBI Houston's X Account:

As reported by law enforcement, Said was looking into how to direct attacks on military centers that were concerned with recruiting new members in local areas. In addition, he was reported to be making claims that if he had the ability to do so, he'd commit a "9/11 style" assault. He also made efforts create ISIS information and make his living space a haven for ISIS agents, via Newsnation.

Said's Attempts To Create ISIS Themed Items, The FBI Surveillance's Early Beginnings

The Houston Chronicle revealed that Said put together seven items, reported to five videos and two images, that were praising ISIS. Per Houston Public Media, Said began to increase his support for ISIS after October 7th of 2023, which was the date of Hamas' strikes towards Israel.

FBI Houston Special Agent in Charge, Douglas Williams, stated Said first caught the attention of the FBI in the year 2017. The Houston Chronicle elaborated on the reason, as the organization was alerted to him purchasing stickers with images concerning ISIS on them. Said, at the time of writing, could be placed in jail for 20 years and have to pay a fine of $250,000 at the most.
