At 2 AM Sunday, November 4, most of our devices will automatically set their clocks back an hour to 1 AM. (If you're up that late/early, you can watch 1:59 AM become 1:00 AM. Fun!) If you've got any traditional clocks or watches lying around, don't forget to manually set them back an hour!

If you can't remember if you're supposed to set your clock back or forward, just remember "fall back" in Fall and "spring forward" in Spring! You'll be springing forward at 2 AM on Sunday, March 10, 2019, so expect to lose an hour of sleep that night.

Daylight saving time is also a great time to check on a few things around your house.

For example, check that all your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors have fresh batteries and are working properly.

It'd be a good idea to check your outdoor faucets and cover them too.

Do a quick inventory check around the house to make sure you have warm clothes that fit for when temperatures drops, as well as any supplies you'll need to defrost your car on an icy morning or in case you lose electricity or gas service and need to safely heat your home.

It'd also be a good idea to make sure your car, boat, and other vehicles are ready for winter weather. Most dealers and garages can help you determine what you should do to prepare, and our friends over at Marine Outlet in Temple do a fantastic job of winterizing boats.

And last, but certainly not least, make a plan for what to do for any outdoor pets and plants you may have. If it's too cold for you, it's too cold for them!
