Young & Restless Star Kristoff St. John Dead At 52
Shocking and sad news we received this morning. The "Young & Restless" soap opera star Kristoff St. John was found dead at his home on Sunday. He was 52.
According to TMZ, a friend told law enforcement that they went to check on the actor at his home in California and found his body but no signs of foul play but according to one source alcohol may have played a role in his death. Paramedics were rushed to his home but he was pronounced dead on the scene.
St. John played "Neil Winters" on the longtime soap since 1991 earning him 9 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and he won 10 NAACP Image Awards but the actor has struggled with suicide in his personal life. Kristoff's son Julian committed suicide in 2014 while getting treatment in a mental health facility. St. John and his wife, professional boxer Mia St. John sued the facility but eventually settled out of court. After their son's death, Kristoff and Mia founded the El Saber es Poder (Knowledge is Power) Foundation to battle mental illness.
Three years later in 2017 on the anniversary of his son's suicide, Kristoff threatened to commit suicide himself with a gun but police were able to stop him and placed him in a hold for psychiatric evaluation.
Our condolences to the St. John family and his fans on this terrible and heartbreaking news.
