Waco, Texas Man Faces Charge Of Assaulting Whataburger Security Guard
A man in Waco, Texas, Matthew Phillips, was taken into custody following his actions at a Whataburger in the state. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Matthew Phillips And His Activity At A Texas Whataburger Leading To Arrest
According to KWTX, local poilce were alerted to a situation going on at 1101 N. Valley Mills, where the Whataburger was located. As revealed by the arrest report, Phillips was causing issues while he was standing by for the food he ordered. He was alleged to have been confrontational.
Due to this, a request was made for him to leave the premises. After this request, a security guard was behind Phillips after he left the eatery. However, Phillips actions did not end there. The report reveals Phillips then turned his attention towards the guard, attempting to punch them.
After the guard avoided the punch and hit Phillips with his baton in the leg, Phillips punched back three times. Per the report, the guard getting hit “caused bodily injury to the victim’s facial area." After hitting the guard, Phillips attempted to get away.

KWTX reports that Phillips made an effort to evade police capture, but law enforcement was eventually able to locate him. His car, a red Ford Mustang, was found in the 2300 Block of Ridgewood. After the discovery, Phillips was placed under arrest and charged with, according to KWTX, “knowingly and recklessly assaulting a person he knew to be performing the duties of a security officer."
