Governor Gregg Abbott announced Wednesday that Walgreens stores across the state of Texas will begin administering drive-thru COVID-19 tests.

The tests will be administered at 15 sites across the state and are developed by Abbott Labs. The testing will take about 15 minutes to return results. According to Gov. Abbott, the testing sites would be able to test 3,000 people per day.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, as of Wednesday April 8, 96,258 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Texas. Of that number, 9,353 people have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Texas testing sites are expected to be activated by the end of the week.

Walgreens says 15 testing sites will be opening in 6 other states including Louisiana,  Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arizona, and Illinois.
