Texas has seen more than enough tornadoes and thunderstorms for the month of March and April and hopefully, it’s going to stop in the month of May. Due to the thunderstorms and the rain, I can tell you the negatives of this are we have lost power in our homes, ditches, and bridges, are flooding where people can’t even drive them, and our properties are becoming ruined from it. Don’t get me wrong, I am a person who loves stormy weather and rainy days, but it has become ridiculous at this point.

I say that the benefits of these thunderstorms have been once the rain and showers have ended, our plant life here in Texas has bloomed beautifully, and the rivers and the lakes have risen, which means more fish and food for us Texans, and for anyone who is a gardener, the rainwater has worked wonders on our fruits and vegetables. Even though the rainwater has worked wonders for our plant life here in Texas, is harvesting rainwater actually a no-no in the great state of Texas? I am aware of gardeners who actually prefer rainwater over any type of water to plant water their plants with and even use it as water to shampoo their hair.

Rainwater doesn't contain all of the fluoride that you can find from tapwater so a lot of people do like to use that as an alternative here in Texas, but the question is, is it illegal? According to Take Care of Texas, Texas has several laws that support rainwater harvesting. Texas property code prevents a homeowner association from prohibiting the use of rainwater systems. The reason for this law is the law, promotes composting, efficient, irrigation, and drought-resistant landscaping. Now I know you’re probably saying to yourself, why would this author write something so silly, and I can tell you that here in Texas you will be surprised what is considered illegal.  I can appreciate that in Texas harvesting rainwater is not only legal, but it is encouraged in the state of Texas. Rainwater is very beneficial and free so the next time you have a big storm keep in mind that you got free water.
