I distinctly remember going to see my first Tyler Perry stage play in the mid to late 90's when I was a teen where he introduced the Madea character to raucous laughter and I knew back then that this character was going to be big. Several decades and several successful movies later, Tyler Perry says its time for the Madea character to head to the retirement home.

Perry announced in a interview on Sirius/XM that he was retiring the Madea character in 2019 with a movie called "A Madea Family Funeral" saying "Its time for me to kill that old b**ch."

This will be the 8th "Madea" movie and the 11th movie the character has appeared in. "A Madea Family Funeral" is set to come out in March 2019 and Perry went on to say that he will be bringing Madea back to her roots with a farewell stage tour with some of the orignial characters and actors from the various movies and plays throughout the years.

My personal opinion is that we definitely won't see the end of Madea, a character that popular and beloved will surely make a cameo here and there or even one more movie but like Perry said "I just don't want to be her age playing her" and Perry still has some years left before hitting her age.
