3 Texas Restaurants Make Top 10 List of BBQ Joints in the Country

Barbeque is a staple of Texas menus everywhere, so it's no surprise that the Lone Star State is on a top 10 list of restaurants nationwide that serve it.

In fact, there were three different places serving barbeque in Texas that made Travel Await's latest list of 'Best BBQ Restaurants in the U.S.' for 2022. Texas took the top two spots, and had another one in the top five.

Best Texas BBQ Restaurants

Franklin Barbecue in Austin, which came in at 4th on the list, is known for selling out quickly. The Texas favorite is now available anywhere in the United States, via the Goldbelly website.
Black's Barbecue in New Braunfels was second on the list of best BBQ in Texas. According to 3rd generation pitmaster Kent Black, a simple rub, local Post Oak wood, and patience is the secret. All the meat is slow smoked with the same process used since 1932 by Black's grandfather.
Cackle & Oink BBQ in Sherman (northeast of Dallas) takes the top spot on the list. Pitmaster and owner Aaron Vogel says the number one quality that separates Cackle & Oink from other restaurants is their service. Everything is rotisserie smoked over an applewood fire for hours, and they serve 4 signature sauces on the side only.

I don't know about you, but I think it's time for a road trip. I'm dying for some barbeque right now!
