UPDATE: The victim's family has confirmed that the woman who was fatally injured, 44-year-old Pamela Turner, was not pregnant, CBS News reports.

With the Sandra Bland case reentering the headlines recently, outrage is growing in one Texas city after a police officer fatally shot a woman who claimed she was pregnant after a struggle.

According to KPRC, the shooting took place in an apartment complex in Baytown, Texas a suburb of Houston at around 10:00 pm Monday night. An officer patrolling the area confronted 44 year old Pamela Turner, whom the officer claims he had "prior dealings" with and knew she had warrants out for her arrest.

Baytown Police allege that Turner resisted arrest and the officer used a taser in an attempt to subdue her. While the struggle ensued, witnesses claim that Turner is heard telling the officer that she was pregnant. Neither Turner's family nor police could not confirm the claim.

“That deployment was not effective, and the female was able to get the officer's Taser away from him. (She) actually tased the officer, which forced the officer to draw his duty weapon and fire multiple rounds at the suspect." -  Lt. Steve Dorris of Baytown Police Department via KPRC

Turner was pronounced dead on the scene. Witnesses captured the incident on cell phone video and posted it to social media. The video is posted below but due to its graphic nature, the video has been edited.

The officer, an 11 year veteran of the Baytown Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave.
