The Belton Police Department has released images of a person of interest in the case of a deputy who was injured by a car at the Bell County Expo Center, after which the driver fled the scene.

Hit-And-Run at the Bell County Expo Center

Paul Romer with the City of Belton reports that the deputy was on traffic duty during the TLC concert at the Bell County Expo Center last Thursday, September 30.

The deputy was just outside the Expo Center parking lot on Loop 121 when he was hit by a white, newer model (2019 or 2020) Acura SUV.

The driver sped off heading west along I-14.

Is the Deputy OK?

The deputy was treated at Scott & White in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.

Do You Recognize This Person?

Belton PD has released images of the person they believe may have been driving the vehicle.

If you recognize them or the vehicle, please contact the Belton Police Department at  254-933-5840, or text any helpful information you may have to 254-217-6764.

The Tell-Tale Mirror

Police say the Acura's driver's side mirror was damaged, so if you spot a car that matches the description and has a damaged mirror, you should definitely let police know.

Do The Right Thing

If you know something that could be helpful, please reach out to police.

If you're the driver, please do the right thing and talk to police.

NOTE: An earlier version of this story incorrectly indicated that the woman whose images were released by the Belton Police Department was suspected in the case. Police actually sought her as a person of interest. The story has been amended to reflect the distinction.
