According to KWTX, third graders at Chisholm Trail Elementary devised a plan to help dogs in animal shelters find their forever homes. When I first heard this story, it truly touched my heart. It’s so sweet to see such young students wanting to be involved in their community and helping these fur babies find the loving homes they deserve.
Belton Kids Write Letters to Get Dogs Adopted
Lori Nipper, an elementary teacher at Chisholm Trail, shared that she noticed the Bell County Animal Shelter had posted about being at capacity. Since her students had just finished testing, she was looking for something fun and meaningful to involve them in, and she thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I couldn’t agree more.
The Community Coming Together One Letter At A Time
Because of their efforts, engagement has skyrocketed. Reports say adoption stickers are now being placed on many of the animals, with excitement building as they wait to be adopted. We’re talking about an area in Central Texas that may not have been fully aware of this issue before, and now several animals are finding homes. This is what it is all about: teaching our kids that doing good deeds can also be fun. Great job, kiddos!
