
Killeen ISD Student Found with Weapon in Backpack
According to KWTX, a student who attended Pat Carney Elementary in Killeen, Texas, had an unloaded weapon in their backpack, as stated in a letter sent to parents. The letter, signed by Principal Paige Gawryszewski , reassured parents that at no time were students or staff in danger and there was no intent to cause harm.

Gawryszewski also emphasized that school operations continued as usual, and school administrators worked with KISD police officers to address the situation with the student's parents.

While this event was unsettling and dangerous, it appears that the staff and principal at Pat Carney Elementary handled it well. Gawryszewski i further stated, "We ask for your partnership in reinforcing with your child that weapons of any kind, including toys, replicas, or look-alikes, are not permitted on school grounds." It is also stressed the importance of having conversations with children to help prevent situations like this.
