After the Bell County Public Health District confirmed its first "presumptive" case of the novel coronavirus and are advising residents to practice "social distancing", another event in Central Texas has been postponed to another date.

Killeen's Inaugural Black Art & Film Showcase was scheduled to take place on Friday March 20th at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center but the event organizers announced today that they are postponing the event to a later date.

For now the tentative date to hold the showcase is September 5th later on this year. According to a press release this event will bring various artists together in stage, film, music and visual arts to showcase ways to tell black stories using different art forms.

The goal is to showcase black filmmakers in our local area and to help young screen writers develop their craft by learning from individuals that have excelled. This is a
platform to highlight one feature (film) in which the panel can discuss Black Stories or stories which resonate with black people.

We will keep updated on when the showcase will be held so you can attend, for now, its better to be safe than sorry to please take precaution to keep you and your family healthy at this time.
