Here’s How People in Temple/Killeen, Texas Can Order Free COVID-19 Tests From USPS
The rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world, including here in Killeen, Texas, has many trying to get into their doctor's office to get tested. If you've gone through this, you know the wait for an appointment can be long, and the wait for the results can be even longer.
How to Get Free COVID-19 Home Tests
The United States Postal Service website is offering four free, at-home rapid COVID-19 antigen tests per household. CNET reports that the website went active today (Tuesday 1/18), one day earlier than planned.
Ordering your at-home tests is quick and easy, and thanks to the "auto-fill" feature on my laptop, I was able to complete the process in literally less than 10 seconds.
Here is how you order your test kits online.
Step 1
Go to one of these websites: special.USPS.com/testkits or covidtests.gov. Either will get you where you need to go to start the process.
Step 2
Enter your contact details and shipping info.
Step 3
Click on "Check Out Now." It's easy to see and is to the right of the page.
Step 4
Once you verify that all the info is correct, you'll just need to click "Verify My Order." BAM! You're done. You'll receive an email from the USPS letting you know that they received your order along with a tracking number you can use to keep up with your tests.
It's Just That Easy
The process is really quick and easy, and President Biden has also said that there will be a phone number people without internet service can call and order their tests.
The only drawback here is that the USPS says they won't be sending out the tests until later in January.
My confirmation email said to expect my tests in early February.
Let's face it - COVID-19 will be a part of our lives for a while. Having a couple of tests on hand is something everyone can benefit from, whether you need negative results for work or just want to be sure you're not a risk to vulnerable loved ones. Now you can get yours for free.
