Both Baylor and Houston had to postpone their 2020 season openers due to COVID-19, but the two teams have agreed to play each other this weekend in Waco. It's Game On!

Yahoo Sports is reporting that in what will be their first games of the season, Baylor announced it will play host to Houston on Saturday, September 19 at McLane Stadium. This will be the first time the two teams have played each other since 1995, when both teams were a part of The Southwest Conference.

Baylor's original season opener was supposed to be hosting Louisiana Tech on Sept. 12, but Hurricane Laura led to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases among Tech players so the game was postponed.

Houston saw its opener, scheduled for Sept 18 against Memphis, also postponed as COVID-19 cases hit the student athletes there as well.

Mack Rhoades, Baylor athletic director, says:

“We are excited to announce a matchup against Houston at McLane next Saturday. Our administrative staff, coaches, and student-athletes have worked incredibly hard to prepare for this season, and deserve as many games as possible.”

Houston athletic director Chris Pezman says:

“We are excited to have the opportunity to open the 2020 season at Baylor. It will be exciting for both fan bases to renew this Southwest Conference rivalry.”

By the way, if you had tickets and parking passes for the Louisiana Tech game, they're still valid for entry to this weekend's BU vs UH game, and limited tickets are for sale over at BaylorBears.com/tickets.

Kickoff is at 11 AM. Sic Em!
