I wrote an article earlier this month begging everyone in Texas to take allergy season seriously. From experience, this month I’ve had two sinus infections, allergies out of this world, scratchy throat, and itchy eyes and I for one am not a fan of it. Once I wrote the article on warning Texans about allergy season, I received a lot of direct messages asking me what may be some home remedies that I can use to get a handle on my allergies or just plain get rid of them.

Honestly, allergies are different for everyone, what can make you feel okay in  the wintertime could make you feel awful in the spring. What I have learned is that when it comes to allergies,  there are two important things that I do to fill relieved seasonal allergies from kicking my butt. The first thing that I do is buy whole garlic cloves, I use this for nasal congestion. I’m not saying that the garlic cloves work for everyone but they definitely work for me.

Putting garlic cloves in your nostrils has been a home remedy in my family for a very long time, it might sound absolutely strange but for me, it makes all the snot and mucus fall right out. If you’re wanting to get rid of that itchy throat, itchy eyes, and crazy stuffy nose, this is something that’s worked for me for a very long time. I've learned another remedy from my mother-in-law. If you purchase local honey and take two giant tablespoons of it, the honey can help your allergies out so much. I’m not exactly sure why it works so well, but I believe it’s due to the fact that the pollen in our area plays a part in the whole bee pollen exchange, and for some reason when we eat the honey it works. I would definitely give this a try. If those two selection suggestions do not work for you, again I’m saying this is something that works for me and has worked for me. I would suggest maybe seeing a doctor if otherwise. Fingers crossed that this helps you as much as it helps me stay safe out there in Central Texas.
