The music of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti is being celebrated in a gorgeous box set curated by Erykah Badu.

Ms. Badu personally selected the seven album featured in the collection, dubbed "Fela Kuti Box Set No. 4," which includes Fela’s 1980 effort Coffin For Head of State, the 1979 LP V.I.P. and his 1984 effort, Army Arrangement. Badu also penned the liner notes for each of the seven albums that were curated for the box set. There's also essays by veteran music journalist and Afrobeat historian Chris May along with lyrics sheet and never before published photos of Fela Kuti.

Each of the album's cover art has been meticulously recreated from the original album artwork, along with the vintage vinyl label design. In addition, the audio has been restored and remastered from the original Nigerian recordings.

“Fela Kuti is a Fucking Genius,” said Badu in a statement. “Please listen to these tracks, preferably with a nice blunt...with a nice slow burn."

The Fela box set will be available on Dec. 15 and is limited to only 3000 copies. You can pre-order the collection right now at Knitting Factory's online store for $120.
