A story that continues to captivate the nation involves the sudden and tragic murder of Joshua Brown who was the key witness in the murder trial of Amber Guyger, a former Dallas police officer convicted of killing her neighbor Botham Jean.

Brown, who was the prosecution's key witness which lead to Guyger's conviction, was found shot to death on Friday night (Oct. 4th) just days after Guyger was sentenced to ten years in prison.

According to our news partners News 10, Dallas Police Assistant Chief Avery Moore said at a news conference Tuesday that three men from Alexandria, La., Jacquerious Mitchell, 20, Michael Mitchell, 32, and Thaddeous Green, 22, will face capital murder charges in last Friday's killing of Joshua Brown.

Brown, police said, shot Jacquerious Mitchell in the chest and then Thaddeous Green shot Brown twice in the lower body. Jacquerious Mitchell is in police custody at a hospital to which the other men drove him after the shooting. The other two men remain at large at the time of this article.

Moore went on to say that the 3 men were in Dallas to buy drugs from Brown and that his murder had nothing to do with Brown testifying in Guyger's trial. The report says that officers found 12 pounds of marijuana, 149 grams of THC cartridges and more than $4,000 in cash in Brown's apartment.

Reaction on social media was swift with condemnation, with many, including an attorney for Brown's family, calling for an independent investigation into his death so the findings would be viewed as "authentic and reliable" according to attorney Lee Merritt.
