We've made it through the holidays and into a new year, and I bet your tree is still sitting in your living room. We understand, though. It's always more fun to "deck the halls". It's the "un-decking" of those halls we dread.

If you have a real Christmas tree and if you're a resident of Copperas Cove, the Solid Waste Department will be hosting a complimentary Christmas Tree Recycling event on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Solid Waste Transfer Station, located at 2605 S. FM 116.

You are more than welcome to drop off your Christmas to be recycled free of charge but remember that trees must have all ornaments, lights, tinsel and other decorations removed.

For residents unable to attend the event, Christmas Trees may be left curbside for complimentary collection on your regularly scheduled Bulk pick-up day. Contact the solid waste department at (254)547-4242 for more details on bulk collection days and for more details on this event.

Killeen will also host a free Christmas tree recycling event on Saturday, January 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Killeen Special Events Center located at 3301 South W.S. Young Drive.

Temple residents can drop off trees for recycling at 3015 Bullseye Ln. and 602 Jack Baskin Dr. between now and Sunday, January 12.
