Construction on I-35 In Belton May Affect Your Morning Commute
Ahh yes, construction on the beloved I-35 here in Central Texas continues, this time making an appearance in Belton tonight.
Be careful and give yourself more time as you commute due to overnight construction.
According to a press release by The Texas Department of Transportation's Waco District, crews will be performing lane closures overnight on I-35 in Belton starting tonight (July 29).
Beginning at 7PM, crews will close all northbound main lanes of I-35 from SL 121 to Central Avenue. Traffic will be directed to exit SH 317 (293A). This closure will be active through tomorrow morning, which is why I'm warning you now to give yourself plenty of extra time to get to work or plan to use any backroads you know.
Additionally, the on-ramps to SL 121, Holland Road, and I-14 eastbound frontage road will be closed. I-14 eastbound will also be closed approaching I-35.
Traffic will be directed to exit Connell Street. The I-14 westbound exit ramp will
be closed, as well.
The closures are meant to give crews plenty of room to safely lay down some new pavement. It's a huge pain for sure, but at least they're doing most of the work at night.
Still, this may affect your morning commute as well. Like I said, plan on leaving the house a little early in case of traffic jams and crashes, and make sure you drive safely in work zones. Slow down, pay attention, eliminate all distractions, and watch for road crews. You don't want to be the person who causes a crash and hold everyone up.
Drive safe, Central Texas!
