Why Meteorologists are Warning of a “Catastrophic” Weekend In Central Texas
Central Texas is facing the possibility of a winter storm this coming weekend, according to KWTX. Meteorologists have stated that this storm could have major impacts; however, it is not expected to be as severe as the historic winter storm of 2021. Even so, residents should not take this situation lightly. A winter weather advisory has been issued across much of Central Texas, beginning Friday at noon and continuing through 6:00 a.m. Sunday.

Timeline Revealed: When Freezing Rain Will Start Hitting Central Texas Streets
Forecasts indicate that wind chills could drop into the single digits and teens, and in some areas, temperatures may feel close to 0 degrees early Sunday morning. These dangerously cold conditions can pose serious risks, especially for those who are unprepared. This is not the time to assume the weather “won’t be that bad.” Cold temperatures combined with strong winds can quickly become hazardous, particularly overnight.
What Do Central Texans Need to Know?
Residents are strongly encouraged to prepare in advance. Stocking up on essential supplies such as bottled water, nonperishable food, firewood, and extra blankets is a smart move. If available, having a generator on hand may also be helpful in case of power outages. Preparing in advance can help limit the need to go outside during the coldest and most dangerous conditions. Winter has officially made its presence known in Central Texas. This is the time of year when that heavy coat tucked away in the back of the closet finally gets some use. Taking precautions now can help ensure safety and comfort as this winter weather moves into the region.
