BEWARE TEXAS: Ground Beef Recall Due To DEADLY Bacteria Spreading Nationwide
The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a nationwide alert regarding a recall of ground beef products from Wolverine Packing due to a serious contamination issue. Over 167,000 pounds of ground beef may be tainted with E. coli.
GROUND HAS BEEN RECALLED NATIONWIDE, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR TEXAS?
Texas has seen its fair share of recalls this year and this beef recall could be one of the worst. Texans and Red meat go hand and hand with a Texas culinary culture. It might come off as a little dramatic saying how important ground beef is here in Texas, but keep in mind the great state is known for its cattle and beef.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF THIS DEADLY BACTERIA THAT IS SPREADING WORLDWIDE?
E. coli is a group of bacteria that can lead to infections affecting the gastrointestinal (G.I.) tract, urinary tract, and other areas of the body. While many strains of E. coli can exist in the gut without causing harm, certain ones can lead to severe illness, including fever, vomiting, and watery diarrhea. This risk is particularly high for individuals with weakened immune systems. Infants and the elderly are especially vulnerable; E. coli infections can be life-threatening for them. Such infections could also result in complications like bloodstream infections, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), gallbladder infections, wound infections, and, albeit rarely, pneumonia. An investigation into the ground beef recall is currently underway, and Texans and everyone nationwide must take this recall seriously.
