Perhaps it was inevitable.

Days after police tracked down a San Antonio teenager who enraged a nation by licking the top of an open gallon of Blue Bell, police in Louisiana arrested a copycat. The sad part - he's a grown man who should know better.

KAMR-TV reports that 36-year-old Lenise Martin III was filmed not only licking the ice cream, but poking his finger into it before placing it back into what appears to be a convenience store freezer.

There's a silver lining here for the public, though it isn't going to do Martin any good.

WAFB-TV reports that when management learned of what happened, Martin returned to the store and showed a receipt as proof he'd purchased the ice cream. However, he'll still face charges of unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity, as well as tampering with property.

So, he did buy the ice cream (at least, one hopes he bought the tub he tampered with), but police are serious about cracking down on copycats. I get that he was trying to be funny, but could a video like that uploaded without context just encourage more Blue Bell lickers? That was the original girl's hope.

What do you think? Should Martin face charges for the video, or does the fact that he bought the ice cream mean it's just a harmless joke?
