Texas Mother’s Harrowing Attempt To Save Her Sons From Frozen Pond
A tragic incident has left a mother mourning the loss of three of her children following a devastating winter storm, according to AP News. Three brothers—ages six, eight, and nine—lost their lives after falling into an icy pond located across the street from their home.
Here Is What The Mother Of 4 Had To Say
The children’s mother said she jumped into the freezing water in an attempt to save them but was unable to reach them in time. “They were just screaming, telling me to help them,” she said. “I watched all of them struggle to stay above the water. I watched all of them fight.”

Where Did This Incident Take Place?
The incident occurred north of Bonham, Texas, a rural community of about 10,000 residents near the Oklahoma border. According to the sheriff’s office, first responders and neighbors conducted an intensive search before pulling the children from the pond. “This is every mother’s worst nightmare,” the sheriff said. The mother, identified as Cheyenne Hangerman, said her children had been spending time at a friend’s house across the street from the pond. She stated that she had warned them not to go near the water. Her youngest daughter ran to alert her that the boys had fallen in.
Severe Deaths Keep Happening Across The States
“I ran across as much ice as I could to get to them and eventually fell in myself,” Hangerman said. “I would grab one and try to put him on the ice, but the ice kept breaking. Every time I tried to sit him up there, it would break. I just kept trying to get each one of them. It was only me—I couldn’t help them all by myself. ”Officials are reminding the public of the dangers posed by icy bodies of water during severe winter weather. Authorities report that more than 40 cold-related deaths have occurred across multiple states as a result of extreme winter conditions.
