As the end of the school year approaches, senior classes across Central Texas will begin planning their Project Graduation parties. If your class is looking for some extra funds to make it a great one, TxDOT wants to help.

They're offering $700 mini-grants to help fund all-night, alcohol-free lock-in parties for either prom or graduation. The funds can be used for printing, materials, postage, supplies, room rental, or other expenses related to the project.

They have a couple of requirements your party will need to meet. The event must be attended and supervised by adults, and the lock-in must last until at least 5 AM.

“Project Celebration provides an environment where seniors don’t have to deal with peer pressure to consume alcohol or other drugs or ride with a driver who is under the influence on that special night,” TxDOT Traffic Safety Specialist Jolie Person said Friday. “Funding is limited so schools should contact us as quickly as possible.”

If you're interested in a mini-grant, applications are due by Friday, March 20. Contact Jolie at (254) 867-2879 or Jolie.Person@txdot.gov.
