
9-Year-Old Twins Allegedly Smuggled by Dallas Woman Under Blanket
Jovanna Netzay Diaz has found herself in trouble at a checkpoint in Laredo, Texas, according to Fox 4. The 31-year-old Texas woman was recently charged with smuggling nine-year-old twins into the country from Mexico. Border officials reported that they saw a blanket moving on the floor in the backseat of her vehicle. Upon investigation, one twin was found in the backseat, while the other was hiding on the floor of the passenger seat.

Nicholas J. Ganjei, the U.S. attorney, stated that Diaz will be charged with attempting to smuggle the twins into the United States. During the investigation, it was determined that the nine-year-old twins were Mexican nationals and had no relation to Diaz.

Although Diaz's mugshot is unavailable, according to Dallas County officials, a federal grand jury indicted her on three counts on February 19, and the indictment was unsealed upon her arrest. If convicted, Diaz faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
