This Monday night after the Thanksgiving holiday, (Dec. 2) the top 10 Voice contestants came down to the wire, performing live for coaches Blake SheltonKelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and John Legend, as well as for America's votes.

Kicking things off was a fun surprise for Coach Stefani, who found her contestant Rose Short taking on none less than "God's Country" by Stefani's boyfriend (and rival coach) Shelton. If this wasn't cute enough, Short upped the cuddly factor by bringing her mom and dad to meet Stefani prior to her performance.

"They're the best. The best thing I can do for them is be happy. This is the first time I'm just I'm so happy," said a tearful Short, as she introduced her parents.

Short's mom told Stefani first that her daughter had been singing since she was six months old...and then, that she herself had seen Shelton on the CMA Awards, and that she thought he was "rappin' his butt off" during his performance. "Your mom's a genius," Stefani told Short.

"This song is a super special song," Stefani elaborated. "Blake is all about his land; he's literally plowing the field. He wrote this song and stopped everything. It's the biggest song he's ever had. The song a country, rap, pop, soul all in one. That's basically what Rose is."

When asking Shelton if he had any tips, he replied, "No, my fear is she's going to make it seem like she's the person that should have been singing that song all along."

Indeed, Shelton wasn't too far off with that concern. Short sang the heck out of the song, with all the edge/pomp and circumstance one could expect. Finishing up, she breathlessly told host Carson Daly, "That song is hard!"

Shelton replied, "I was thinking when she sings it, it doesn't seem that hard. You were killing it." He added, "Makes me rethink my entire arrangement."

As for Stefani herself, she raved about Short's beauty, then noted that the performance was meant to be, and perfect for right after Thanksgiving.

We'll be following along each week to keep up with the Season 17 competition, so be sure to check in weekly to check the progress of your favorites on the show.
