Beyond the Tweets: Texas Tesla Employees Worry About Job Future After Trump-Musk Exchange
The month of June was very eventful, especially after Elon Musk, the owner and operator of Tesla, sent out some disturbing tweets about our 45th and 47th presidents, Donald J. Trump.

Will Government Contracts Be Cut? Texas Tesla Workers Watch Trump-Musk Closely
Not only the country, but the world has been watching the dynamic between these two individuals over the past several months. Many have noticed growing tension—and perhaps even a shift in alliance. For some, seeing Elon Musk and Donald Trump together once looked like a partnership that would never end. They supported one another, seemed to trust each other’s judgment, and gave the impression of a strong mutual respect. But now, things appear to have taken a drastic turn.
Following a series of disagreements, accusations, and unsettling rumors, the so-called "dynamic duo" may have officially parted ways. And while the political drama continues to unfold, many Texans are left wondering: What about the jobs here in Austin?
The Big Question: Should Texas Tesla Employees Start Looking for New Jobs?
It’s important to remember that Elon Musk brought a wave of opportunity to the region when he opened the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin on April 7, 2022. He created thousands of jobs, provided Texans with excellent health and dental benefits, and gave many families a new chance at stability. But after this public fallout, some Texans are asking: Will President Trump retaliate? Could he try to shut things down?
Of course, Trump has always been a major topic of conversation, especially since returning to office. Rumors constantly swirl around the leader of the free world, but in most cases, he’s taken the high road by ignoring the noise. However, what Elon Musk tweeted recently may have crossed a line too far to ignore.
Musk alleged possible corruption within the White House and made highly confrontational claims about the president, most notably accusing him of being connected to the Jeffrey Epstein list and implying that this is why the list has not been made public. As of now, there has been no official word about Tesla operations in Texas being shut down as a result of Musk’s statements. Still, employees are uneasy, wondering: Is my job on the line?
This is a conflict no one saw coming—and certainly not one Tesla employees in Texas were hoping for.
