In Texas, we look up to police officers to keep up safe and sound. When we lose an officer it's a sad time. Unfortunately, four officers in the state have taken their own lives, leaving many to try and encourage others to get help.
What Happened To Four Police Officers In Texas?
According to The Independent, Christina Kohler, a Deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, sadly took her own life. After she wasn't spotted by anyone in two weeks, her body was discovered on March 13th. However, her death was one of many reported in the past six weeks.
Maria Vasquez, who had recently left the department, also was discovered to have committed suicide. Her death was revealed three days after Kohler's death was reported. Two other former deputies, William Bozeman and Long Nguyen were also found to have taken their own life.

Because of these losses, the Harris County Behavioral Health Division has encouraged those currently in law enforcement to seek assistance for mental health issues.
How Is The Harris County Behavioral Health Division Helping Officers?
As revealed by KHOU 11,Thomas McNeese, the director of the unit, stated the following about police officers and what they deal with:
"The average citizen I think in a lifetime may be exposed to two -- I think is the statistic -- critical incidents whereas one of our officers might be exposed to that on a shift. So, over time, that definitely takes a toll."
McNeese also said that "It's OK to not be OK but it’s not OK to not do something about it. You don’t want to stay stuck there."
If more information is reported about these tragic losses, we will report it here.
